While much of what follows relates to playing activity, it needs to be said at the outset, that without those who voluntary give so much of their free time to our club there would neither be a club nor games. The Executive Committee,  the officers and delegates, the sub- committees, the project groups, development and future planning group, maintenance and upkeep group, team managers, selectors, mentors, coaches, players,  the many that fill support roles to all teams, fundraisers/promoters, sponsors, parents/guardians, supporters,  each and every one that contributes in any way, without you our club would be at nothing.

Kilkerley Emmets GFC was founded a meeting held in Philipstown Hall on Thursday March 7, 1940. Philipstown Hall was situated on the right hand side of the road going to Dundalk between Callans Pub and Milltown Bridge. 1954. In the JFC Round 1, finished level 0-6 to 1-3, against Magdalenes on June 13 at Castlebellingham. They were back at Castlebellingham on June 27, for the replay. This match came to an ”abrupt end” according to the Democrat. Emmets were behind 3-2 to 1-1, with some time left, when they scored a free, and within a minute were awarded a penalty, as Ned McEnteggart was pulled down in the square.  However they didnt get hitting the penalty, as a melee broke out in front of the goals, and altercations in another sector of the field. Referee Vincent Duffy abandoned the game. The Division 2 side went out, also at Castlebellingham against Wolfe Tones 6-5 to 1-1 on June 20.

1955. For some reason there was an exodus of 24 players from the club 21 of them  to Shelagh Emmets, ratified by the transfer committee of the County Board on February 7.  Still managed to field a team in the  Division 2 Championship draw 2-3 to Glyde Rangers 1-6 at Knockbridge, winning the replay at the same venue on June 12.  Knockbridge was again the venue on August 21, beat O'Tooles 3-8 to 1-1. Tom Darcy served as club secretary in these years. Hugh McCabe, Tommy and Gene Mulholland, and Ambrose McEnteggart also held officer posts.

1957. The club affiliated at Division 2 Grade, and were included in the championship draws and Ranafast Cup competition. However, apparently due to a shortage of players, later decided to withdraw from all competitions, and played no football at all that year.  Considering that the transfer committee of the County Board, had incredibly sanctioned the transfer of twenty four players away from the club two years earlier, it seems the effect of this was now threatening the survival of the club.
